>I am mounting my Delta 8� grinder and Wolverine jig. The factory is closed today. The directions say 6 � � minimum versus 6 �� from base of grinder to center of the wheel. I am currently 7� to center of wheel. When I looked at some photos of the set-up on a search I see various heights between the base and wheel center.

Is the 6 � � dimension a maximum distance from the table to the wheel center?

Is this �� critical to get the required angles or are there better choices?

>I too have seen various height settings. I believe the factory spec sheet says 6 1/4 to 6 1/2 from the top of the holder for the bar holding the Wolverine attachment. I have the Wolverine with all of the parts and pieces to make a complete setup but really prefer my Tormek. I just have never been able to get the angles perfect on the Ellsworth grind using the Wolverine. Hope you do well with yours.

>I don't think it really matters. I mean, even if you mounted it 8 inches below, you would still get the angles....its just that your tool tip would be farther down the face of the wheel.

I contacted the factory about the height requirements because of the Craftsman grinder that I have. The base of my grinder comes below the wheels. Therefore, I have to mount the entire grinder above the jig. This would cause me to dramatically exceed the 6 1/2" dimension.

I received an email from (and also talke directly with) Kevin Clay at Oneway stating this could be done. The basic jig, varigrind, and skew jigs will work in this configuration. He said the dressing attachment will not work with the increaed height, but they do sell an extended height dressing attachment.

Hope this helps to anybody still wondering or debating wether their grinder will work with the Wolverine.

It was not as critical for the grinding attachments as discussed earlier.
