This is the sawhorse bench I use for cutting up my blanks. It is just made from some timbers I picked up on a construction site.
It works pretty well for me.
But for the technique of processing bowl blanks.. Bill's site cannot be beat. I do it the exact same way.

You did not say any size. I made a small cradle with 2 4x4s screwed, from the bottom. about 5 inches appart on a 2 x 12. I lay my logs in this on their side and do my slabs or log splits.
Cross cuts just prop up the end and cut. Set the prop behind the cut so it does not bind as it comes lose.
