I can't contribute anything in the way of locating the book, but I went to your web page, and your work is very impressive. I especially like the teardrop box. I have been thinking of making a box like that for about two years now, also thinking no one had done one like it yet. Oh well...

Thanks for the compliment about my work.

I have been making this particular box for many years now (about 18), as it is a great favourite. Strangely enough, I saw a photograph of it in a publication soon after I first starting making it, as it had been copied by an acquaintance woodturner of mine. He got the publicity from copying my idea. Oh well, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

If you have a go at it, I recommend either African Blackwood or Cocobolo as being the only woods stable enough to keep a good joint.

Like I said, I've been thinking about this for about two years now. I don't always get around to doing things right away, but thanks for the recommendation on the wood. I'll probably try it first on something a little less exotic first.

I've only ever turned a small piece of African blackwood, but it was some beautiful stuff.

Thanks for your suggestions, Larry.

I have tried all of the addresses you supplied, and am hoping that maybe the woodworkersdepot.com might have one, as I haven't heard anything from them yet. The others have nothing.

I got a call from a local woodworker who had read my plea, and he suggested contacting abebooks.com. From them I located one used copy in New Zealand, but of course the mailing costs are higher than they would be from the US. They are holding the book for me, and I will wait a short while to se if I hear anything from the woodworkersdepot.

Doesn't the internet make the world even smaller?
