I want a Oneway lathe......

but there are 5,000 reasons I can't have one.

I have turned exactly one thing, a single leg for a small table and it gave me the fever. I have thought about getting a delta midi and bed extension or maybe even a nova 3000 and bed extension. How many bed extensions can you add to both of these machines. If I made a heavy metal frame for the nova, would it make a good learning lathe? Could I do pens to platters and bowls on it? I got plenty of steel so Just how heavy should a base be?

Hi Basil.

If you wanted a Poolewood, then you'd reduce your reasons to only 4000. ;-) Seriously though, go for the Nova 3000 if it fits your budget. It is a fine lathe, and if you can make a stand from metal, so much the better. Shape is even more important than weight. If you go to my website and click on the Poolewood review, you will see a picture of the lathe and stand overall. Making an A frame stand like that for a Nova would be simple enough, and it would give it incredible stability compared to many older lathe designs that were made primarily for spindle work.
