>Easy to use the first try. Pretty hard to screw up with its simple jigging system, producing very consistent results. Handles both the older steels, like my 1910 Henckels or my Sabatiers. Great on laminated Norwegian and Japanese kitchen knives, too. Inexpensive. Comes in the usual progression of abrasives with a really good ceramic final stone, or buy the diamond set which works nicely on the hardest new alloys.
