Plane Blade Help

>Where can I purchase a new blade for an infill .

I need a 2 1/2" x 1/4" paralell Iron.

I have an Iron that will not take an edge.

I've tried shapton ceramics and DMT diamond.

This thing WILL NOT take an edge.

I believe it was improperly processed, annealing or tempering.

The steel is A2 it is not soft or overly hard, I think it is the structure of the steel itself. I know D2 doesn't like shaptons

so I tried diamond in case I got a D2 by mistake.

I will contact the person I got it from however, He is very slow processing orders and I want a replacement soon.The Iron must be 1/4"thick, as thats what I have opened the mouth to.(18"Cocobolo stuffed,bronze infill pannel plane)

If anyone knows where I might find a replacement, I would be most grateful.

Call Lie-Nielsen and ask what they have in stock. They make replacement blades for some infills. I bought an A-2 for my Norris from them and it's a nice blade. I don't know what other sizes they make.

I have not gotten a blade yet from Jim Reed, but several woodworkers who I respect have seriously praised his work. He likes to make custom blades, and his prices are good.

I don't believe LN sells infill blades. Their regular blades have the hole in the adjuster/ cap iron hole on the wrong end for a infill.

Actually Hock was my first thought.

This would be a custom order as I need 1/4" thick Iron and

I wasn't sure if he did custom blades.

I took the iron to the grinding wheel and re ground about 1/8"

thinking it may have been ground too hot and sure enough I got to good steel. whew! I guess my last resort should have been my first

attempt at a solution.

I'll post a pic this weekend.
