Contrary to my experience. I always shoot them in the head for a clean painless kill and they always empty the magazine in a dense yellow spray.

Someone told me, when I was a young kid, if I was ever in that situation to take my hat off and stick in my mouth - I guess the theory is that you'll look so strange to the bear that he/she will make tracks. Wellll, I guess todays bears have seen it all, because this one stood up on his/her hind legs (which I took to be a bad sign) - I was about 25 feet from the front porch; and I'm still not sure if my feet ever touched the ground - you should have seen me and SWMBO trying to get through the front door at the same time (does anyone remember Laurel and Hardy) ... rj
