I realise that my complimenting Bob for "making an interesting and useful saw" while questioning just what could be called a "restoration" of a tool doesn't rise to the quality of adding anything constructive to a thread like the above quote does but then I was rather tired from my recent reverse migratory flight .....Todd

Just look up restore or restoration in the OED or any lesser dictionary or consult any recognized museum, curator, conservator or reenactor in the country and if they know what they are talking about, this is not 'restoration'.

If I were to do something like this (& I may have, I am just not saying right now) then I would not call it a restoration. And yes words do matter, we must be careful what we say and put in print because it will be there forever!

And there are people out there who will hold our feet the fire and for them I am greatful.

No amount of thinking that is 'restoration' will make it a restoration, no matter how many people think that. It is just not a restoration and there are plenty of 'working professionals' out there to back me up on this particular issue.

I thought Bob's information was great and well worth the discussion, however I do take umbrage with the improper use of the word 'restoration'.
