>Shat is the best way to attach leather to wood? it will only be attached on one end and will need to move like a hinge but would like to get away from mechanical fasteners. is there a glue that will work?

>Spray a light coat on both the wood and leather, let get tacky, spray another light coat, let get tacky--then press in place.
That's how I've attached leather to wooden vise jaws, and they've held up for years.

In order to determine if glue will do the job, we need to know what the hinge is being used for. Is there only one hinge? Or will there be two or more hinges supporting the same whatever? How heavy is the hinged object? Are we talking a few oz.,s or a few pounds, or ten pounds or more? What kind of wood? Is it smooth or rough? Will it have some kind of finish on it like shellac or varnish or poly? How long do you need it to work as a hinge, one day, a month, forever?
I remember as kid my Dad using leather from an old boot for hinges on the door of our outhouse. He used nails.

The epoxy you use is a definite factor, I use the same 2 part medium cure time epoxy that I use for boat repair ( US Composites brand, less expensive than the competition and it works great!)because it has the added benefit of being Extremely water resistant (the term waterproof is applicable but do to legal concerns no manufacturer uses it anymore).
