I find renewing a scraper blade very fast in comparison to a plane blade. Quicker to set back up as well.

But if I don't need to use a scraper, especially on a large surface, it doesn't matter. It's only on difficult woods it matters, and at that, larger surfaces else I will use a #80 or a hand-held scraper.

For some of the larger surfaces I have done, though, this would have been fairly handy to have. Which is why I almost bought a HNT Gordon try plane once. That was a 7' long Mahogany top with difficult grain.
