>Got the new Garret-Wade pub yesterday. Don't know why they keep sending it. But DID notice they are'nt carrying the whole L/N line any more. Was going to drool over the " Bronze Bombers " but no dice. Whats up with that ? On the other hand I DID see my Veritas square now there. Five bucks more than LV but there none the less.

>I noticed this too. Not surprised as GW seems to be going the way of many of the catalog retailers, ie. broadening appeal and watering down their specialty. Seems like they are more into gardening than woodworking. They could quit mailing me, for that matter. L-N has roots there since the original bronze edge plane was once sold exclusively by them, pre TL-N, I believe.

>When I need to get bids on tools etc. I pull out the GW cat. and use it for the high bid. I can always depend on them to be high. When I purchase a plane etc. I usually purchase from Clarance Blanchard with the Journal. He is on the other end of the price spectrum from GW, and he doesn't bother me with garden tools. (Why would you garden when you can be cutting up wood?)

>Re: the connection between TLN and GW...TLN worked at GW for three years or so, and bailed just when the Wisner #95 repro went out of production. TLN began sourcing the #95 for GW some time after that. Too bad about GW - used to be a good place to go for info, and when I owned my Inca 259, a good place for parts and accessories.
