I was at the woodturning group, with 30 other folks, when it hit. Rattled a few nerves here, and knocked stuff off of shelves at two of my sons' places. No injuries, though. And I much prefer this to tornadoes, too.

Actually, I've had a DeWalt 14.4 for the past 9 years. The batteries aren't quite what they use to be, but they still work well enough. I think I've priced replacement batteries as being prohibitive (?$80? for one), and worth just starting over. A few years back, my father in law found a place that actually replaced the cells in the OEM battery pack for around $30. That might be an option to consider, though I'm not quite sure how to find one of those places.

Initially I was using the egg beaters in the winter while I kept the DeWalts inside from freezing. Over the years I've migrated to doing all my pilot holes with the eggbeaters. The DeWalt is primarily a cordless screw driver for me.

I haven't researched cordless powered drills recently, though I have seen some no-name 18volt cheapos (?$30?) with two battery packs, that look intriguing. If it were crap, $30 is still a tempting gamble.
