I was keenly interested in seeing and maybe trying some of the Clark and Williams and Auriou products. It would have been nice to see the Saur and Steiner planes even though I am not in the market for infills. I have seen the other fine products at other venues and own some of ir myself. The weather and Larry Williams not making the show made my decision for me. I would definitely go to a show like this especially if it was closer.
>I'll preface this with the fact that I have not been to any other woodworking events. I spent a couple of hours at the show Saturday from say 1:30 to 3:30, so some things were beginning to wind down by the time I was leaving.
I really enjoyed this show. The opportunity to meet and speak with various toolmakers and woodworkers was fantastic. The venue was smaller than I expected, but that worked out for the better. There were plenty of opportunities to either take your turn at a bench or ask a question. My 6 year old even enjoyed using every rasp Auriou had on display and a few LN planes.
The fact that the location was small allow me to find the display tools that seemed to be freely moving around the room from bench to bench. This casual atmosphere made every thing much more approachable for me as a novice. I was able to try out saws, planes, and rasps quickly and with no pressure. Even after I messed up the adjustment on one of Konrad's beautiful planes, he just set me back up and handed it back to me. :-)
Everyone was very friendly and took the time to answer questions thoughtfully.
I've already reserved some time to attend next year, so they better show up. :-)
>I took a few pictures while at the show. One is a new 71 Router plane due out very shortly. They also were showing and raffled a 171 Router plane which should be shipping now. There is also a picture of a new spokes shave and a general picture showing Tom LN. I didn't use a flash so the pictures are not the greatest. This is also my first time upload pictures to this forum so if it doesn't work I will have to retry. Looks like I will have to post the pictures one by one as I can't figure out how to include three at once.

from what I understand Ron, in order to put muliple pics in one post you have to first send the pics to a host site, than from there you can get them all into one post. If you ever find out how to do that, let me know so we'll both know.
One thing to keep in mind is that you need to use a host that doesn't have transfer limits, otherwise your pictures will not show after a while (when the limit is reached). Found that out the hard way...
Many of the "free" picture hosting sites have such a limit.

Whenever anyone goes to an event like this, that would be a standing offer. You don't have to be eloquent, we will edit it for you, and you can send the pictures full size and we will resize them for the article. That way, the events will be retained for posterity ;-)
