I liked the LV rest and the idea that anodized aluminum is graby is beyond me. My dad still has the LV so I was using it a few months back, and didn't have any problems. However when Oneway cam out with their sharpening system, I tried it out and had to get rid of the LV. I think it's OK for turning tools, and I I had to do something boring like sharpen them for market I would probably use something of the kind so I could zone out. the Main thing I use it for hand tool wise is for flat plane blades and chisels. You get a perfect regrind bevel off of any fixed rest it looks like it came form a factory but better. The thing I don't like about the oneway is that it is is so deep, it cranks even quite long chisels off the rest. One really only needs a few inches. Anyway, not really a problem for me. Discussing rests is pretty lowbrow in my opinion, it's just a clunk of metal with a pivot lock on it, can I go back to sleep?
