Visit to Japan Woodworker

>Just got back from San Francisco, where my trophy wife ran her first marathon (she did hers much better than I did the one I ran 20 years ago, too). While in the Bay area, I got to drop in at Japan Woodworker, and the visit was delightful. I left with more education than tools. Their working stock of stones and sharpening paraphernalia is the best I've ever seen, and I'm talking about the ones on the bench getting used, not the displays of new ones. I got a terrific demonstration of how to sharpen my chisels, especially the Japanese ones, and what to expect of different stones and final results.
Also got to actually handle a L-N #85 Cab. scraper, which is a marvelous tool. It is now on my short list.
This was my first trip to San Francisco in 35 years; a week doesn't make me knowledgeable, but I believe that about any restaurant choice between Bush street in SF and Dry Creek road in Healdsburg is likely to be a great choice. Wish I could spend more time eating out there.
And I'm sure glad I came home with that Japan Woodworker catalog. How long until Christmas?
