Rob Lee

>... but probably not relevant to most here.

This has been a ton of work, and there will be offshoots for the English site as well (notably, instructions in PDF form as well as HTML).

Before anyone asks - we're not working on other languages until we've nailed French.

Salut -

Rob

>You do sorta provide people with handtools eh?

One thing I like about the Veritas site is the speed of serving pages. The people doing this site have done a good job.

But what is with all the misspelled words? I could hardly understand a thing...

Take care, Mike

>What's the audience, the end buyer? Kinda has an Expo or ISO app feel to it. You do have some fairly serious machinery there!!!

The French seems fine though I remain in the dark as to what a "Fraiseuse" is. They didn't cover than in my ten years at French school

Rob Lee

>Hi Thom -

It's a non-selling site... each product has a dealer look-up by country...

It will be a centralised repository of all Veritas support info - eventually in more languages...

Veritas is still a completely separate company from Lee Valley... though we sometimes work together on stuff..... :)

And where are the rabbet planes? ;-)

Re: question

Rob Lee

>Hi David -

They're not in distribution yet... Lee Valley (somehow) negotiated an exclusive for a short time.... :)

Really - supply continues to be tight on the new items, and we're also backed up on web development... the new stuff will appear on the Veritas site soon...

SPAM ?

>Is this not against forum rules. Blatant advertising. Lee Valley are you too cheap that you won't pay for this and was it one of your friends that started the thread titled "Centerfold" in messages?

Re: SPAM ?

>Well "Graham" -

We are already sending checks in as a major sponsor, as well sponsoring contests etc. here too...I kind of figured that announcing a second language on a non-selling site was really... well, an announcement.

I'm perfectly willing to defer to the moderator's judgement, however...

Can't say I'm sorry about having friends though...

Perhaps you'd have additional suggestions on how to censor/control them?

Cheers -

Quelle bonne ide, merci beaucoup Rob!

>Rob,

Thank you very much! Now - well that makes two years acually - that I have reengaged in my school english in order to improve my woodworking, as there is not much literature on the german side, this will be that helpful in learning from the french side. The vocabulary is very different from German and English. I will visit your homepage just to lose myself in many beautiful pages of attractive handtools. Learning languages can actually grease the slope :-)I think you're on a big thing.

J'aimerais bien essayer la vastringue un peu, surtout cause de l'angle de la poigne. Est-ce qu'il existe un revendeur dans ma proximit Luxembourg Europe continentale), c. d. moins de 300 km?

Salutations amicales,

Marc

Nice website

Stephen Kirk in Quakertown PA

>There is a lot of good information on there, especially if someone is researching tools for purchase. As a sometimes web developer, the site is clean and fast, which are my personal likes for a website.

You can thank me later for the money I just gave you this morning. I shouldn't mention on this board that I bought a new table saw blade, but I did also get the Gransfors axe stone. I'd been interested in that for a while, and using a dull axe splitting some firewood for the winter pushed me into trying it. Looks like it'll fit the hand well.

>I certainly hope you have not offended Mr. Lee. It is unusual for a tool retailer to actually participate in the forum as much as he does, and I see it as invaluable to the woodworking community. A lot of great tools have come on the market in large part due to the manufacturers knowledge of what the market needs and wants. If you are insinuating that I am in any way associated with Lee Valley just because I like their tools and occasionally post things about them here, you have certainly offended me. And as Mr. Lee points out, they are already paying more to support the site than what it is worth to them.

What wonderful timing! I just sent my daughter to Paris for the Fall semester. She knows nothing of woodworking tools (in English, let alone French) but loves to shop. You've provided me the perfect key to rust hunting by proxie!
