>How do all of you keep the surface that you are putting hide glue on warm enough? I have used a heat gun to take joints apart and to pre-warm the surfaces to be glued, but I still struggle with the glue cooling too quickly. Thanks for your help in advance.

>What is the gram strength of the glue that you are using? It might be that you are using one that is too high. The higher the gram strength, the faster it gels.

>Hide glue is at its best when you are gluing something you have done many times before on a hot day. It is hard to comment without knowing just what you are doing, but here are some general suggestons.

1.Warmth. Wait until the shop warms up or move to a warm room. I often put the pieces on or near the heater.

2. Preparation. Clear the bench top and assemble glue blocks, clamps, pieces to be glued. etc. Have the clamps in the right range. Plan your order of glueing and divide into sub-assemblies.

3. Help. Even a six year old can help spread glue or lend an extra hand.
