Norton stones terrible boxes

Moses Yoder in White Pigeon, MI

>Seems the past few years everyone has decided everyone else is too busy to get together before Christmas, so all the get togethers are planned after Christmas and new year's day. This means I have new tools in the shop, and no time to play with them :( My new set of Norton water stones came in on Thursday, and I took the time to look them over, and they look good. These stones mean serious business. Unfortunately, the boxes they come in look like they will be so handy that I probably will never get around to making nice wooden boxes for them. If I took my list of priorities and did top priorities first, I am sure I would never make nice wooden boxes for these beautiful stones. These plastic boxes of course are impervious to water. The lid is hinged but it comes off completely, leaving a neat little tray for the stone to set in while being used, with neat little rubber feet on the bottom so it won't slide all over. Another major draw back is the color of the boxes; they are blue, and with the decorating scheme in my shop, a green would fit in much better. But perhaps I can put in some blue accents somewhere so the blue boxes will blend. After today, our Christmas gatherings will all be over, and I will have time next week to actually use the stones.

>We periodically discuss covering all the file cabinets in my office that that self-adhesive wood-look stuff, usually when someone's gotten all excited about spending way too much money on some prettification that will add nothing to productivity.
