plating removal

>I have a rather common Stanley #71 router, that I have started to use with some frequency. One of the issues with the router is that about 60% of the plating is gone and the router is very unattractive.

Anyone know of an easy method to remove the remaining plating? I will probably try applying jappaning to the bare plane or have it re-plated (I have several sources that can do it).

Thanks in advance and hope all had a safe holiday!

1. Wire wheel on a grinder or mounted in a drill.

2. Take it to a radiator shop and have them dip it in an acid bath.

3. Beadblast of sandblast it (check you local yellow pages).
