OT Xmas story

kevin French, Antrim NH

>T'was the week before Xmas and all thorough the neighborhood, SWMBO and I were dropping off small tokens for the holidays. When a civic minded neighbor who's a teacher in the local school district said "Kevin do you have any bicycles from the dump?" She was looking for a small Mtn Bike for a needy boy in her class who had put it on his wish list. She also asked for a larger one for another boy who walks to the store for his parents.

I told her I had a few and see what I could come up with.

The next day I dropped off a 20" "TREK" MB. All it needed was a new tube. The larger one was giving me problems. The rear derailer was missing and it's cable broken, and the seat all torn up.

Wed. at work I go to the dump hoping to come up with another bike. NOTHING. I stop in a few hours later on the way home with a small token of the holidays for the boys at the dump and LO and BEHold someone dropped off FIVE (5)! Not only were there bikes but one of them had the same special rear derailer and shifter I needed. The cable was in prefect shape and the seat wasn't worn.

I got home and was walking back from the mail box when my neighbor stops and says "You made a little boy very happy. I told him I would drop the bike off after school and when I got there he and his buddy were jumping up and down in the snow bank they were so exicted."

I told her about my find and said I'd have the second bike to her that evening.

She was amazed at the bike I brought over. One of those with the pivet and shock in the center and shocks on the front forks.

I haven't heard about the delievery of that one yet, but got a request for a third one. Tomorrow I'll work on that one.

MAN I love that DUMP!
