Bottom of what has been called 'slope"

>I'm kinda looking to hear how some of you old-timers cope with a couple of seldom discussed realities of handtool bonding. In a way, it's sort of the question of what will become of loyal Sparky, the devoted canine, should he outlive his master.
Let's say I'm 58 and born in 1947. I will leave no children to which to "pass on" tools or other clutter. I learned today from the online version of the Washington Post that on average I can expect about another 10 years and then will be gone.
Just to spare my wife the burden of dealing with the tools I figure I ought to start downsizing the hoard resting at the bottom of my little slope. Three or four things a month should do it. I've spent a few hours working at picking out things I can part with, but have decided I can't part with any of them just now. Isn't this pathetic.
