Welcome to Adobe GoLive 6

Wayne had some fun so I wanted to have some (G) this wood is so cool I want to show it off.

Here is the wood I got from my customer. It almost 3 thick. They have several names for this bubinga so I dont know the official name I just call it highly figured.

This wood is so hard to plane and joint. I have a helical carbide cutter head on my jointer. I had to rotate the knives to handle this wood. Well I have been using the same side for 8 months so I guess it was time (G) my planer even with a light cut and the wood skewed tended to pop out divots. I almost never have problems with tropicals with it.

When I get a 60 up and running Im testing it out. I have my doubts if it is planeable. Bubinga has always been a very hard wood to hand plane. Its even tuff to sand.

I just finished sanding these planes today and they need another several coats of finish. But you see a 32 long 3 wide jointer an 18 jack a coffin at 60 degrees a finish plane and a Japanese ironed plane with maple.

But I am sorry to say these planes are all sold so dont come begging (G). I just dont get to work with woods like this much.

>Steve,

Those pictures are cruel. I'm wiping the droll off my keyboard as I type.

However beautiful the planes are, I enjoy seeing a workbench that looks like mine. ;)

>What bench? I don't see no bench!

It looks a lot like mine too. A neat bench is a sure sign of a sick mind.

I wish it were as easy to straighten up the bench as to fix a misposted message or two.

Ah! Well, in that case, who...

woodburnbob

>decides that it is grin and not giggle or growl or gasp or gag, or some other facial expression starting with the letter "g"? I mean is there a cypher book somewhere on line so I won't have to ask these kinds of questions, tie up bandwidth, and keep exposing my ignorance?

I know there's a lot of this sort of secret fraternity in-the-know stuff that leaked out into the wider culture from the oldtools group. So I did check the list on their FAQ before demonstrating my dorkiness here, which actually reminds me of being in grade school and asking an upper classman to explain the meaning of some term or phrase that inevitably I learned referenced one or another mysterious aspect of female anatomy. (G).

In fact, it makes me wonder if this abbreviated stuff is now actually an expected fashion of internet use, or merely an example of the dumbing down of American culture, or a cute cover-up for those who can't spell. (G).

Anyway, Greg, thanks for a simple straight answer. (no-G).

>Steve, your high angle coffin smoothers are just some of the most desirable planes out there. Not only do they offer superb performance (at least the ones that have crossed my bench) but as these photos show, they are such a wonderful canvas on which to display the glories of highly figured wood. I remember back to when you first started making planes, and had no idea at that time how lucky us hand tool users would be for you choosing that path in life.

>Just do a search on internet acronyms and you will find more than you ever wanted;-) I am not sure, but I think that a good part of it stems from the early days of the internet prior to the graphical interface browsers when everything was text based. The shortcuts just made it easier to type and they just carried over. There are also the emoticons like the smiley :-) or the frown :-( the wink ;-) and others. (look at the sideways)
