Chair plans?

Derek

>I posted on the other side. I'm looking for more options. I need to make some chairs for the kitchen. I made a tressle table which matches the cabinets in the kitchen (birdseye maple). Now I need to make some chairs. The style is pretty standard modern kitchen (raised panels, etc).

Anyone able to point me to plans for chairs? I've never made chairs before. I've done a number of bent laminations and M&T joints so these are not a problem unless really fussy/compilcated. I am looking for pratical designs which will hold up well in a family environment - read I still have kids at home :>).

Thanks in advance guys!

>Hi,

You're in luck, all of the chairs in Drew Langsner's book are again available due to a warehouse find at the publisher's. This packet of drawings is well worth the $12.50 post paid price. I think maybe Carslyle Lynch's grandaughter is still selling his drawings, and the list of offerings may has a chair or two in it, as I recall.

There are lots of books with measured drawings in them. Go here to start: http://www.windsorchairresources.com/references.html

>You might want to look at your local library for a book by Jeff Miller- Chairmaking & Design. I haven't read it but have heard good things about it. Not in print anymore, but is a fairly recent book and should have all you need to know about making modern frame style chairs.

>Thanks for the recommendation.

I'll check it out, though I strongly doubt our public library will have it. There was a dearth of woodworking books there the last few times I tried it. Maybe I can find it online.
