The rarest Disston saw ?

>Does anyone know what the rarest Disston saw is?

I bid on a Disston saw this weekend that went for $214. In the Disston catalog, it's called a joiners saw. I only found about five threads on the internet that dealt with it.

Here's a link to the auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6219375682

The pictures have been taken down, but you can see the bid history. It was about $65 up until the last 45 minutes or so. I put my max bid in at $180 but I was way off the mark.

>I don't know what the rarest one is, but this summer I was at an auction and saw one that I've never seen documented. The medalion was a large scroll like design that covered all of the bolts, and it had a recessed circle the size of a typical medallion that said Henry Disston. The nose of the saw was also unusual in that it wasn't blunt, but truncated top and bottom, almost a round look, It also had a nib and split nuts. Unfortunately it sold almost last and I ran out of money at $30 and was runner the up bidder. I'm still kciking myself for not having my checkbook. I have a feeling it was a really early example of his work.

>Yours sounds like it was a floor saw you might do a searcs under that to see if it was.

>to the saw I described, I should have added it was about a 26" crosscut with a fairley broad blade. No stair saw, and I'm still convinced it was "special".
