>Rob,

You should be Proud of your father, after reading the article I couldn't belive how accurate a pulse he has on business and Government. I like his style, no B.S. call it as you see it. There are not many like him left. I wish you and your family much success and keep being progressive.

>Wonderful article about a man who is nothing short of a genius. Leonard Lee's success springs from simple, everyday values: hard work, perseverance and clear thinking. Put those together with endless curiosity and a strong imagination and the result is Lee Valley, Algrove and Canica true genius, though I'm sure Mr. Lee would reject the overblown and worn-out term.

And yet, how many people start not one but a handful of innovative and successful companies, all the while thumbing their nose at the very hint of an IPO? "I'll be damned if I'm going to report to stock analysts..." he says, and I say sing that tune again, brother, and sing it loudly. I work in an industry (software development) that was ruined by stock analysts, IPO idiocy, rancid back-room agreements and greed so abominably naked it made you ill just to glance in its general direction. People such as Mr. Lee are the antidote to the supreme foolishness of today's business values.

Mr. Lee says, "I'd hate to have a job that rotted your soul," and I feel like weeping. I'm currently churning out marketing bumpf that could charitably be described as a pack of complete falsehoods. Soul? Sorry mate, haven't had one of those for quite some time now. I'll be passing through Ottawa soon and I think I'll have to stop in at the Lee Valley store in the hope that it emanates some sort of magical, restorative Lourdes-like force.

I'd like to offer up a huge and heartfelt thank you to Leonard Lee for everything he's done and everything that he still intends to do. He's a true original and I'm grateful for everything that he and his family have dreamed up for us.

Anyway, still waiting on a plow plane, but I guess that's Robin's department now. ;-)

>Hi Vince,

Very well put and I'm sure echo so many people's sentiments--from Lee's accomplishments to the feelings of a souless job.

Mike
