Derek Cohen (in Perth Australia)

>Terry Gordon mentioned to me that he will be doing two woodworking shows in California later this month and I thought I would pass on the information – The San Mateo Woodshow on the 28 - 30 Oct and the Costa Mesa Woodshow on the 4 - 6 Nov.

He will be demonstrating his new spoke shave (see picture below). In addition, Terry will be displaying Colen Clenton's tools (which have got to rank among the most desirable marking tools around). You lucky sods!

Regards from Perth

>Hi Derek,

Thanks for the notice. I didn't even know about the Costa Mesa show, which is right around the corner from my workplace. If I go (and I don't see any reason not to at this point in time), I'll be sure to check out the HNT Gordon booth.

Regards,

Mike

>Hi All,

Terry was in Melbourne last weekend for the Working With Wood Show. Colin Clenton was there too - with his whispy white beard and huge array of squares, marking gauges.

Terry's new spoke shave was on show and being demonstrated - I dunno, looks a little too beefy to my liking but then again HNT Gordon planes are not exactly what I'd call conventional looking - at least as far as western styled planes are concerned.

You guys in Cal - hope you take some time to stop and watch Terry demonstrate his planes - he is both a lovely guy and a pleasure to watch taking gossamer thin shavings with one of his planes.

Lucky sod indeed. I spent some time at Mr. Gordon's table last night; learning and drooling. His was about the only table that didn't leave me feeling that he was trying to sell me a product. Rather, he was demonstrating craft and craftsmanship. I ended up walking away with a 1" ebony shoulder plane and I'm going to visit him again today to test out the bench style planes. Remarkable tools from a genuine craftsman.

Mike
