Re: Plane question

>JL,
When I think of a plane for shipbuilding, and its 12-18" long, I think spar planes. I don't know what you are into, but I don't see a lot of use for such things. Not to assume everyone wants to do what I want to do, I'm guessing there is a very limited market for tools like this, thus a low price. I'd be wary of offering even molding plane prices ($10-20/per) for these things.
If you get them cheap and find little use for them and you're possibly willing to donate them, or if you just want to know more, I'd contact the davistown museum or mystic seaport. Believe it or not, there is a group in Philadelphia at Penn's landing and I don't know who they are or anything about them. You'd think I would know something like that being in a family of boat builders and all...Sir William may know.
Ingratiating yourself to museum workers is a good idea. Take our own Warren Mickley for example. He had the audacity to visit Pennsbury. Instead of a relaxing chat, or a personal tour, we snookered him into finishing one of our projects while we needled him endlessly. (Thanks again for coming Warren. I promise we'll do that tour next time. Promise... Really... I mean it this time.)
Okay, so second thought, maybe you can sell them to a TGI Fridays or get out some drywall screws and screw them to your own kitchen walls.
Adam
P.S. You know if Warren wasn't such a great craftsman, I'd feel really bad about how I treated him. But with skills like his....
