>How come there is no feeding frenzy around this "ANTIQUE NEAR MINT STANLEY # 2 ? JACK HAND PLANE PLANER" that is 9 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide? Way way back when I sold my 1964 Chevy pickup with the flapping fenders and the inspection holes in the floor boards so I could check the condition of the tires, I should have advertised it as a "Near Mint El Camino".

>All of my Stanley made #2 planes are around 7-1/2". If I recall correctly there was a later #2 that was around 8", but 9" is getting into #3 territory. Buyer beware...Rob

>At first, I thought the seller was saying s/he lives near one of the U.S. Mints, but I don't think Treasury has a mint in Milwaukee, do they? Maybe there was a box of Altoids near the plane when s/he took the pictures.

>Those of you who recall my past lists of "ebay Definitions for Handplane Buyers" should be surprised only that this seller described the plane as NEAR mint. As a public service, one old ebay def. & one new:

Mint a) You can still tell what it was. b) I spray painted it with gloss black Rustoleum.

Stanley No.2: I sold one of these before.
