>Howdy ; Found a pre-WWII 5 1/4 in the junk and fixing it up. Anyone know if I should change the old pittied blade or should it be kept original ? Could have the old one sharpened but worried about all those purists out there !

>Well now if you get the correct marked blade from the same "type" plane [ an easier to find No.3 plane blade is the same] to replace the pitted up one exactly how could anyone tell it's not the original one, eh? These things ain't serial numbered to each other. After all how do you know the pitted up one is the original factory one?....If it can't be told that it is a replacement then I think it becomes original......Todd
