I made some spokeshaves!

>I bought a spokeshave kit from Lee Valley - with a bit of an ulterior motive. I had picked up a couple of old spokeshaves on eBay a couple of years ago on the theory that if nothing else the blades would be good. Well, the blades were good although they are slightly curved - but the bodies were totally shot. Somehow I never got around to making new bodies for the blades - mostly because I wasn't quite sure how to make the bodies.
I was sure the kit would have very good instructions (it did) so I used the same instructions to make bodies for the other two blades. (With some minor modifications.) I used Jatoba for the kit and it came out nicely - even though I didn't get the screws in the brass strip symmetrically. I also used Jatoba for first blade only I used a small piece of ebony in place of the brass strip. I was surprised how easy it was to make.
So, since things were going so well, I jumped right into making a body for the other blade. This time I used some maple and used a piece of Lignum instead of brass. A friend of mine gave me a piece of Lignum a while back after it screwed up his jointer - so I approached it with some trepidation. But it didn't give me a problem. I epoxied it into the body and I hope that holds it. If it doesn't I guess I'll have to go back and pin it in place hopefully symmetrically this time.
