Stanley 19-160 mitre box

Gerry Doll

>Picked up a Stanley 19-160 Mitre box w/ 26" saw for $20. Saw is nothing special, but in good shape. Nice cast iron base, has some weight to it. All of the main parts appear present, but some of the screws, hold downs, etc. are missing or have been jury rigged. Per Stanley website, replacements are available.

Anybody have any info on this? Worth replacing the parts? I already have a Nobex, which is fine for my purposes, but for the cheap plastic handle.

Thanks,

Gerry

>I have done a complete restoration of a Stanley 19-060 or No. 60MB, and yes it was well worth it. A 19-160 would be just as nice though it looks a little modern for me. Stanley Fedexes the parts to you, even here in New Zealand parts took barely 4 days to get here. I dismantled the entire thing, bead blasted the cast parts then repainted in black, had all the plated parts re-nickelled and machined a new locking pin from P-20. Probably the mintiest No. 60 in NZ!

I've still had no donors for spare parts for my 1920 SW 358MB though; anyone got a spare 'tree', con rod or saw trip lever?
