>Ted, I don't think the seller can see the maximum amount that the Seller authorized. The maximum amount actually bid, and all bids, can be seen by anyone after the auction closes. The bidder can go to his own ebay page and see the maximum amount authorized and the current bid while the auction is in progress.

>Short answer, NO.
Long answer. You only see the winning amount, or for that matter the losing amount of the high bidder. If you set an opening bid of $10, and a reserve of 100, and one bidder bids $99, and there are no other bids, you'll only see a $10 bid. On the other hand the runner up bidders max bids will show since they were outbid. The only way I know to find the maximum a winning bidder bid is to ask them. Or, I did have one tell me voluntarily in hopes I'd reduce my reserve to his max bid.

>I would like to know how I can see a maximum bid some one has made during an auction. I sell losts of stuff and have never seen that and if it were available I bet there would be a whole lot of shill bidding going on. Todd the only thing you see is what is in the bid history. it is vueable during or after the auction ends. it's interesting to watch but no real info there for a buyer or seller unless you have several of the same item to sell then you can offer a second chance offer to sell them the item at the maximum bid they made. That saves the seller listing fees but the final value fees still apply. When you are at a live auction do you get to know the maximum amount a person was willing to pay? It is interesting to see the # of people watching an item that you have up for sale. right now I have 56 people watching one Cymbal I have listed but only 3 watching a differant one. makes me wonder if I have missed somthing in the text or if the one is just a peice of junk?

>I thought this might be the case, but thought I'd ask anyway. Reason I asked was this: suppose Seller has an Item I want, I put in my high bid of say $100. I utimately win the item for $35, seller looks (if he could) and sees that I was willing to pay up to $100, soooooooo s/he says "Next time I get one of these items I'm gonna set the Reserve/Opening bid at $100".
Guess that can't be done, so that answers that question.

>Well, that would be faulty reasoning by the seller. Since these are auctions it doesn't matter what one person is willing to pay, only what two or more.
