Follow-up on Coping 45 Degree Crown Molding Joints

Richard A.Gillespie, Jr.

>This is a follow up an inquiry I made regarding the correct procedure to use when dealing with 45 degree (not 135 degree) inside corners on crown molding. The best procedure I found was to miter the joint. That is to split the angle in half when you cut each piece.

Trying to cope the joint results in an extremal acute angle cut on the mating piece. This was further complicated by the need to install the crown molding upside down to avoid problems with the position of two casement windows.
