The joys of eBay *LINK*

>On a 75 knockoff, solid brass and marked "Patsy": "It is quite small for its age..."

This is the first time I've been informed that planes grew larger with time. This may explain the scarcity of Stanley No. 1 planes. It's not that they didn't sell many; it's that they've all grown up to be No. 8s.

Usually, when we see these brass knockoffs, they're explained as patternmaker's copies, but why would a patternmaker spend the time on reproducing the dread No. 75?

>Doesn't look like a pattern makers copy to me but rather a production plane. Sort of reminds me of those AMT [I believe that was what was on them] tools of a few years back and probably made over in some far off land....Perhaps "Patsy" was a description of the future owner, eh?....Todd

What collection?

>I actually managed to sell the second No. 75 I bought - apparently, PT Barnum's aphorism remains true, but now they can all get to eBay - and I really don't think one counts as a collection.

Stop it, Scott! You're going to create this collective belief that I'm collecting those objects, and then no one will ever respect any of my posts (not that I have any evidence anyone does now).
