>Upon boot up this(actually yesterday morning now) morning my orginal big glass screened space hogging monitior died. Everything came up just fine and that POOF! screen went black.

Wife went out tonight and bought me a 17" Hewlett Packard Flat screen replacement. Wo/Man, I got enough room on my computer table for a whole library of old tool books now!! :~)

Well Pam and Ted, I hope you enjoyed your day off from my inane questions, but I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Thanks for picking up my slack Ernie. ;~)

>Todd,

I've been thinking of getting one of those flat screen monitors for a couple years now but I'm worried I may not like the change. What do you think of yours compared to the old one before you had troubles with it? I never would have even gotten a computer if a friend hadn't given me one. After playing around with it I was hooked.

HUH?

>You say you(by way of the wife)actually BOUGHT a H/P monitor? Why didn`t you just go down to the dump and pick up a monitor from the dozen or so left by the "summer people"?I`m on my 3rd dump monitor now for the grand total of $O expended from the rust fund.Ah,the joys of living on the new "gold coast".

Don`t ask about the new land evaluations where most everybody`s real estate values at least doubled though. That`s a VERY sore subject, especially with the town (mis)manager who has to temporarily hire(with our tax dollars) a fleet of telephone operators to handle all the calls and schedule the appointments to register formal complaints. We`re under strict orders not to argue with operators(who I hope are standing by,but probably seated in plush tax aquired seats). We`re told to save that for the real heads of power, and hopefully not out on the street either.

You better hurry up and get home quick Todder, before you can`t afford it anymore.

>Jack,

Are you kidding me? I love this new monitior. the screen itself is bigger but takes up waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less space than the old one, plus it brighter, but seems easier on the eyes, but perhaps that is vecause I have it further away from my face now. AND it puts out no add'l heat. Talk about a win, win, win, win situation!

Bob,

I am a surbanite presently, there are no dumps for me to go pick. :~( Closest thing I can do to dump picking is raom the neighbor hoods on there perspective trash days. This Country Boy living in the City bloody damn well rots and I'm tired of it. why do you think I want a nice chest to put my tools into? Yup, so when the day comes when I've had my fill I can throw it in the truck and off I go. Came close to it last summer, and I mean REAL close.

Is there any goodies such as nice magnets that I can scavenge from the old monitior before I trash it? Is there a proper way to dispose of these? Perhaps put it out with the recycle items? Put it out curbside and let somebody grab it maybe? Gonna keep the speakers, I bet I can use them for something else.

Good to hear from you Bob, you haven't been posting much lately. Hows things with your arm/hand/therapy?

>One of the reasons I haven`t been posting alot is that I`ve just lately acclimated to yet another new medication for nerve pain. This is in addition to the one I`m already taking.Together they really threw me for a loop and I didn`t trust myself to post coherently even with SWMBO as proof-reader.

Next month(if the Dr`s office ever calls back)I`ll be headed down to Boston for yet another bit of cutting. This time for a radial nerve release.Hopefully there won`t be too many more in the future.I`ve been told maybe 5-6 total times under the knife and then it`s live with whatever residual damage can`t be corrected.

The good news is that soon I`ll be starting retraining to make a living with my brain instead of my hands.Don`t know how I`ll be able to live going back to minimum wage though.;^)

Thanks for asking brother.

Mainely,Bob-Sweatin` his tail off on the sunny coast of Maine.(only partly `cause of the meds)

>No thanks.

Spent a wonderful 3 weeks in the field at fort A P Hill during the end of July/beginning of August. The only thing I can recommend from that time was the spiced shrimp.

PS-I did come second in the tick pool. The medics pulled 44 off me.The winner had over 50.

You could hear the little devils dropping onto your poncho at night.Almost sounded like rain.

You're always on my mind

>Bob,

Just wanted to tell you that I'm always wondering about how you're doing. Funny how I catch my self always wondering what certain folks are doing. Heck, I think more about Islanders than I do my own family back Home. they don't stay in touch with me, and I got sick of always being the one to maintain contact, so I said screw 'em. Besides, everytime I do make contact all I hear is how this one is fighting with that one, and blah, blah, blah. Never seen a family fight amongest itself as much as mine does. They where dong it all the time I was growing up, and they're still at it. How sad.
