Twenty years in the Boston area was quite enough snow and winter for the rest of my life, twenty springs when my body kept yelling for 80° in April (good luck on that in Boston). My theory for coping is to jump in with both feet, go skiing in the winter, go further north for vacation, etc.
While Austin isn't perfect, it's closer than anywhere else I've lived. Yeah, it gets super hot for July and August, but when it's real hot the humidity is relatively low, and it cools down real nicely at night. I don't use A/C. Winters are close to non-existant, but it does get cool enough to kill a few germs and bugs, no snow.
I'm with your uncle: if I never see another snow flake that will be too soon. I probably could be convinced to take up skiing again in the Colorado powder, though.
I heard there was something called the Sun Coast just north of Vancouver. Is that true? Is it really warm in the winter?
