>This is a spoke shave I found at a flea market awhile back.It has a chipbreaker/iron combo and a nice adjuster design.I'm trying to find out who made it. There are no words on it anywhere. There is a patent number on the iron(I think that's what it is) and this logo on the cap. Anyone recognize this logo?Thanks---Jack
>I believe this may be a Selden Bailey's, Bailey Tool co. "Defiance" spoke shave with thier distinctive Battle axe logo. Believe it used a 1870 patent for the clamping mechanism used to hold the blade. Besides spoke shaves they also made planes. They only made tools from about 1875 till 1879 when they sold out to Stanley who continued to sell the defiance line of tools till they ran out. I think the battle axe marked tools date from befor 1879.....This is a VERY good spoke shave. Don't know what it is worth but the "Battle axe" planes go for the big bucks......Todd
