Fret-Sawing Instructions *LINK*

>I bought my son a fret saw from Lee Valley.

It does not come with any instruction.

I know he and I can figure it out, but I think it's better for him to have the instructions he can read & follow.

Also, is there a book on plans and techniques? I have a book on power scroll saw but it's not the same as on one fret saw.

Thanks,

-- Hoa

P.S. Gloat: the fret saw does come with an apron plane and a bevel-up smooth plane ;-)>

>I don't know of current books covering hand fret work.

In the 1930's it was a popular hobby in the UK, and many tools, books, plans were available. Some still litter second hand stores over here, although they're getting rarer.

This was the biggest name, still hanging on by its fingernails.

No need - bookfinder is a meta-search.

>I've used that saw a fair bit and a V board is a big help. Smooth motion and contious sawing is needed for turns to avoid breaking alot of blades. Blades teeth need to point towards the handle.

Paul, may I ask how you came up with "BugBear." I'm a bear myself ;-)
