Re: More ? on my 45
William Duffield, on the Cohansey
>Well, the information on the Stanley #45 type study is published in John Walter's Antique and Collectible Stanley Tools, Guide to Identity and Value. The problem is that this book has become a collectible, itself, and prices for used ones have gone through the roof. There are persistent rumors of a third edition in preparation, but I don't keep up with those things, so I don't know if that is a real possibility or not.
For knobs, probably you can find a new one through Mike Taylor in Katy, http://pages.sbcglobal.net/mike_in_katy/PlaneWood/Default.htm, or through Joel at Tools for Working Wood, who carries replacements made by Paul Bordonaro. Both of these guys make new handles for old planes. There are also several vendors who carry old replacement parts. Some, like Todd Hughes, only sell on eBay, but others sell via e-mail, telephone, etc.
