Stanley #45 Adjustable fence?

Ernie Miller

>I went to a local anteek shop to get some info on a bayonet this guy is realy smart and has the neetest shop. any way why I was there I was digging around all of the stuff and came across a fence for a 45 but it has an extra bracket and a thumb screw to make micro adjustments. I have never seen one like this and was wondering if any one else has? I'm guessing it is a little more rare or desirable I hope as it fallowed me home. I will post pictures later.

>For those that don't know Ernie's beloved poodle, Zues is suffering from bladder cancer. :~( How goes the treatment?

Won't help much, but there's a 20 spot coming your way for meds.

Sounds like an interesting 45 fence, I am looking forward to the pics.

>How is Zues? My Nipper is getting up there a bit in age. she gets around alright, but I can see the age in her. God, it hurts just thinking that one day she'll be gone. I rub her belly, and scratch her every chance I get.

>If you are talking about the adjustable fence I think you are, they started putting them on to 45's around the sweetheart era and continued until they were no longer made. Here's a shot of one at the top of this page:

>Those are very helpful, for two reasons: one is the obvious fine adjustment for distance from the cutter. I find, also, that I have trouble keeping the fence body parallel to the plane body when I tighten the thumbscrews (this may be a product of the thumbscrews having burrs that I've never cleaned off), and there's just enough play in the movable sub-fence that I can adjust it to parallel before tightening the thumbscrew that locks it in place.

Mine came without the thumbscrew for the sub-fence. This is yet another of Stanley's oddball size/pitch screws, but I was able to tap it out to a slightly larger size of conventional thread, and put one of my patented lamp-part thumbscrews on it.

>That' funny I am just about the only one he ever bites. yesterday after getting blood drawn it took about 5 minutes and they said he was real good real lovey to the vets. I get to the car and was getting him comfortable for the long ride home and he goes byzerk biting my hand then goes over to the pasingers seat and takes a nap all the way home. I guess he didn't like being poked and took it out on me when no one was around. he only has three teeth and every one hurts.

Excellent feature

Jim Reed @ Tallahassee

>Adjusting the fence on a #45 is not the easiest thing to do and the micro adjust feature is greatly appreciated. Use one and you will never use the old kind again.
