Handmade crafts sold on E-bay: any success stories

>I have often thought of making hand made items and attempting to sell them on E-Bay, but I keep thinking that the cost structure would be bad. E-bay seems to be for bargain hunters, not people willing to pay a premium for hand crafted items. However, hoping I am wrong, I thought I would ask this group if anyone has had success making and selling stuff on E-bay. I mean like for a profit.

Does this kind of question violate the use policy?

Hope not.

>GO on E-bay and do a search. use "wood" as your main search and then qualify it by your price range. Look at the number of things being bid on. i'm sure you'll be as disappointed as I was when I did it.

Although the "Govt" tells us how robust the economy is. This seems to be a not so good year at shows either. That tells me there is not that much extra cash out there

>In my limited experience, E-bay doesn't work for handcrafted items. People want the bargains. The best success I've had in sales is when I "consigned" some stuff with a couple of friends who were doing a booth at a craft fair. I don't produce enough in a year to warrant my own booth. Between the three of us, we had enough for a "full" booth. After expenses (1/3 booth rental, wood, etc.), I cleared maybe $75-100. They did better as they had more stuff. We are thinking about doing it next year also.
