>If you are worried about weight how about a #23-27 planes they are transitionals and weight alot less get the longest one you can find in good shape for use as a jointer or for adjusting doors to fit. having a wood sole ther are easier to push also.

>I think many no.5's were tradtionaly carried in tool totes and traviling tool boxes as an all purpose plane at least judging by the number I find in them . Of course 3 and 4s are smaller and lighter but don't know if it is enough to make a difference, same with a 5 1/4 .......Todd
