Clay C in Miami

>So, with shipping the winning bidder here paid, for a used LN scrub, only $22.49 than it would have cost him to have a brand new one at his door. The second place bidder was also eager to overpay.

(He's paying $157.49 with shipping for this used one, but ... a shiny new one is $135 shipped free at finetooljournal, and heck, it's only $145 before shipping from LN direct.)

I don't get it, I don't get it ... is there some 'LN Type 1' issue here that I'm missing?

>Are you really surprised that somebody over paid for a LN scrub plane? Lets face it if they were worried about over paying for tools they would have bought an original Stanley for LOTS less.Probably for some people this may even add to the desirabilty of the tool...." So old boy you got your LN on sale!? ..Me, I actually paid more then retail for mine and I think the quality reflects it" .......Todd

Well worth the extra money

>To have knowledgeable hands sharpen the iron and break it in for you.;^)

Mainely,Bob-Who has given up trying to figure out folks who have more dollars than sense.

The woods are full of them around here every year about this time, just like black flies.

>You have all missed the point. This scrub is valued in e-bay dollars. The exchange rate, last time I checked, was EB1.00 (one ebay dollar)= LV.15 (15 cents Las Vegas dollar). Clearly the more ebay dollars you spend, the closer you get to that Las Vegas high.

>I own a number of Bridge City tools that I purchased from BC. Therefore, I sometimes watch for Bridge City Commeneratives on ebay because they are no longer manufactured. What I have noticed for some time now....people will pay more for old BC tools than brand new ones cost. I can only agree with one of the writers below...the old tools must have been used and re-calibrated:-)

Or......mayby some people are not too XXXXX. I do understand collectors going after signature series BCs.

>Clay,

Don't overlook "auction fever." If you're not careful an auction can turn into a contest, a confrontation where the testosterone starts flowing.

"Think you can out-bid ME do ya! Go ahead and try, but you're not getting anything I want!"
