>Sure feel better than the VA I usually use. Will find out how it cuts tomorrow although it appears unused, it did have some scratches with rust but I cleaned that off.

>Walt, if it cuts worse than the VA don't despair. Most saws cut better after a resharpening than they did new anyway.JR

>If it is stamped with an 8 that is the number of teeth it had per inch and has nothing to do with it being a D8 saw.Should be a skew back saw and the etch should say D8 and handle should be Apple and not carved though some others like the no.76 had very simular handles. While the medalion can help to date the saw it of course has nothing to do with determing what number it is other then the D115's which are nickle plated....Todd

>Tod makes some very valid points, but lets not forget the feature that made the D8 famous, the inlet handle. Sometimes referred to as the cover top.
My first post on this subject(how in the world)was made, before I realized that the saws owner identified it as a D8. (I really should be more careful when reading these messages.) Looking back, I should have made the assumption, that Walter checked out the Link, made the ID, and then re-posted. I'll try to be more prudent.
