My new plane! ;~)

Rob in Kansas

>I'm so excited! I've been working pretty hard towards this for quite a while, but I finally managed to find myself a nice plane at what may be close to a gloatable price. Needs a little work, but great potential. I should pick it up next week. And I thought LN's were expensive!

Nice plane Rob, now

Eric Hedberg

>is that the low or high angle of attack version? I've heard the low angle models are better in turbulent air. Seriously, though, how do you sharpen the propeller blades on that thing? They look to big for even the new Veritas gauge and I can only imagine the size of the oil stone. Eric PS Will you be setting up charters to woodworking events for WoodCentral members, discount pricing of course;-)

>Well they are the high angle version, but it has more mass than say a #3, so that helps with the turbulance. As far as sharpening, I'll just take it to Ben & Doug to go at it free hand with their bastard mill files!

I do plan on flying to some events, but since I don't want the expense and hassle dealing with the FAA in regards to "flying for hire" I won't do any chartering. But if people want a ride that can be arranged!

Bill, Aw...but I don't plug it in!

So, Rob,

Bill Houghton, Sebastopol, CA

>I've started a sub-thread giving you a hard time. Let me make amends.

Thanks for sharing this nifty new toy...um...tool with the WC community. It looks like a nice way to get to rust gatherings, and other events too.

>Rob,

That looks like a piper product, no? Comanche? Had one of the worst flying experiences of my life in the company Aztec. (long story)

Anyway, look at it this way: Now you can hit those good East Coast flea markets with several of your friends and you won't have to pass on that anvil you've been looking for!

Adam

P.S. For God's sake be careful in that tin death trap.

How do you sharpen it?

Re: Twinkie

Rob in Kansas

>Yep,

It's a Piper Twin Comanche, affectionatly known as a Twinkie. One good thing about it is with the tip tanks it will hold 120 gallons of fuel. That's enough to get from home to NJ and still have enough reserve fuel to fly for over an hour. Not that I'd want to go that far without stopping anyway. I've flown the Aztec too, good airplane, but slow and a gas hog. As for the anvil...Not sure about that, but I will accept your offer to take me to your good flea markets! :)

Death Trap!?! It's safer than driving, I've seen the way those big city drivers are...and the road rage shootings! No thank you, I'll stick to my properly maintained aircraft out here in the wide open spaces.

BTW I'm still trying to get that email address for you. Maybe I'll be able to get it at tomorrow's meeting.

Re: So, Rob,

Rob in Kansas

>I liked your reply Bill, no problem here. I'm really excited (and nervous) as it's my first aircraft. I've already been thinking what events I want to go to. But first I need to get it home, learn it's idiosyncrasies, and do a very thorough annual inspection before I wander too far from home. I do have a standing invitation from my first student to come out to LA and take him flying. Maybe as things start getting cold here.

Jeez, one guy...

Rob in Kansas

>makes a stupid mistake and we all pay for it!

When I go on a trip the minimum I do is monitor the emergency frequencies. Normally I'm in contact with controllers the entire trip. It hepls having another set of "eyes".

And by the way, in this case the user is the one that gets sharpened, not the plane! :)

No one has discussed . . .

Robert R. Clough - Thorncraft

>who the maker is. It's not a Stanley, a LN, a LV, nor any standard plane. However, considering that it has an iron that goes in a circular motion and that the iron is at the immediate fron or nose ofd the plane, could it be a Bullnose Cesna?

TWEEET!!!

Definately not a hand tool!

While not powered by electrons,it`s a power tool none the less.

Off to the penalty box with you!;^)

William Duffield, on the Cohansey

>Foul disallowed, overruled, squashed, or whatever!

It's a gloatable mobile job site toolbox for carrying hand tools (even those with sharp edges) long distances rapidly. That's something most of us just can't do any more with any degree of safety and security, without fear of confiscation, or at best lost baggage.

Re: TWEEET!!!

Bob Hackett

>A toolbox you say?

(Consults rule book)wheels allowed,no electrical hookup(grounding strap allowed).Amish annex states internal combustion and hydraulics allowed for religious reasons.

Ron can come out of the penalty box and the penalty will be overturned if he is Amish or using this toolbox for religious reasons.

Best I can do here folks, and some of you think I`m inflexible.Ha!
