Feeling groovy...

>Well I got back out in the shop last night to do some serious work. It's been a while since I have been able to do that...
I am *still* working on my hand tool cabinet and even though I realized that my hand plane collection has become so large that I won't be able to fit them all in the cabinet, I decided to forge on and figure out something once I'm done with the basic case. *sigh*
I am at the point of cutting grooves for plywood panels. I cracked out the Record 050, set it up and it cut pretty well. However, I made mistakes (the usual for me), and I had a rough time dealing with the stopped grooves. I pulled out the router plane but I found that I was missing the critical screw/washer that holds the fence on my router plane. So I decided to use a chisel to finished the stopped ends but that was just not working well.
So I do have a question after all this rambling. What is a good method for cutting stopped grooves without a router plane? Using a chisel is an acceptable answer but what's the method involved?
