>In making hollow and round planes is it better to skew the blade and, if so, at what angle? Also, they talk about a jointers pitch of 50 degrees and a cabinet pitch of 60 degrees in molding planes. Tod Herrli's video shows him using 50 degrees. If I am making furniture, should I make my planes with the 60 degree pitch?

>The H&R set I have is skewed about 5 degrees. I think it helps the plane ride better but others may disagree. As for pitch, the higher pitch helps with hardwoods. Many H&R sets were made for house carpenters and they used soft woods. Cabinetmaker H&Rs are almost always 50 or 55 degrees. Are you making a set?

>Jim: Yes, I plane to make a set of evens from #2 to about #22. Already have the QS Beech and the A-2.
