>In the link provided below,(if it works) what grade is the top stone of the TRI6 tri-stone set up? It says medium and I have one just like it and call it the Washita, but I'm not 100% sure that I'm right anymore.

>Yeah, I know they call it a medium and that it is probably soft which is what confuses me. I'm thinking that there should be a softer one in line before this one. I go from my carborundum to this stone, and I'm thinking that maybe it's too big a jump and should go to perhaps a lily white first. The carborundum is a fast metal remover and leave deep scratches which seems to take a long time to remove with this stone.

I found their phone number and tomorrow I'm gonna give them a shout. I'll let you know what they say. Thanks for the reply.

>try starting with a medium india and going directly to a hard arkansas stone. the jump in grits isn't too much and unlike a crystonlon stone the indias are hard and don't dish.

for moderate work on the back of a tool the medium india is fine - for gross work I use a 220 grit diamond stone because knowing that the initial stone is flat can save oddles of time later one.
