>What does the brace look like? I have had a few Challenger chisels, and possibly other stuff as well, and I assumed it was a hardware brand. On the other hand, I had a Challenge(r) brace that was very odd...it had two cranks, change gears, and two arbors. It is a very rare brace, and can in no way be mistaken for a common brace. Wayne

>I seem to remember a line of economy grade mechanics tools called Proto challenger. I looked it up and Stanley produces them.No mention of braces though. They may have made those in the same factory that produced the wrenches and sockets.---Jack

>I see those "Proto" egg beater drills quite a bit. They have a strange metal hollow ,[for bits]adjustable handle which you can set at any angle I guess for jobs where it might get in the way. Probably a gimmick but kind of neat...Not real high quality.......Todd

>Looks like a low end ,light weight cheaper brace no doubt aimed at the home owner market. As befor I wouldn't be surprised if it was some hardware store brand.Chuck looks a bit different with a collar behind it...Don't know if I ever saw a "Challenger" brace but truthfully I see so many braces like this I probably wouldn't have remembered it if i have....Is nice and clean, guessing I bet it was made in the 1920-40's but just guessing....Todd
