>I ordered lee valley's ultra cheap rip cut dozuki. Thought it might be an okay saw and it turns out to be that way.
I use several different saws rangind from tiny zona saws to great big 10 tpi rip backsaws for cutting dovetails depending on the thickness of material. I thought I might try it for the stuff I have no saw for thicknesses being around 3/8" to 5/8". I tried it out this morning on some 7/8" cherry where it cut but I had a bit of a tough time starting the saw, once started it could cut it but it was not very enjoyable. I also tried it on some 5/8" doug fir which it cut very well, as well as some 3/8" and 1/4" maple which is also cut very well. The saw tracked well and had a very thin kerf. The handle is of nice quality but I found it a bit short, this is easily modified though.
I think this is a good value. Definatly falls into the spectrum of most lee valley tools. High to good quality at a moderate price.
